On Fridays at the Buddha Center in Second Life the sangha has been learning about and discussing aspects of the Angulimala Sutta. This talk arose from the. ANGULIMALA SUTTA. uyyojanna. parittam yam bhanantassa,. nisinnatthanadhovanam;. udakampi vinaseti,. sabbameva parissayam. At that time in King Pasenadi’s kingdom of Kosala there was a robber named Angulimala. He was fierce, with bloody hands, engaged in killing living beings.

This is how we learn to pose questions about our own choices, and to build the positive character and wisdom to make choices that bring about positive causal consequences. He no longer suffers under the dispositions of anger, hatred, violence and fear; and so, is not a danger to the community at large.
Intro Movie Buddha Center. So venerable Angulimala said to king Pasenadi of Kosala. Yet while walking why did he say, I have stopped and Suyta you too stop! For the second time they said it and the Blessed One went on, silently and for the third time they said it and the Blessed One went on, silently.
He was fierce, with anuglimala hands, engaged in killing living things without mercy. Thus he became a disciple by the name of Venerable Angulimala who worked intensively and soon be came an Arahanta Saint. Do not be yoked to negligence, and sensual pleasures, concentrate diligently to attain pleasantness. Going the alms round and returning from the alms round and after the meal was over, arranged the dwelling and taking bowl and robes, followed up the path to where Angulimala was.
Now the most Compassionate Buddha saved the life of the helpless mother by standing between the runner and the chaser at the risk of His life.
Then king Pasenadi of Kosala left his palace with about five hundred riders on horseback and approached the monastery. When the robber saw the Buddha, he changed his mind from chasing his own mother and attempted to seize the Buddha. Now we have much work to do, anhulimala would go. He did so, and the lives of two beings were saved by this paritta. At that time at the entrance to the palace of king Pasenadi abgulimala Kosala was assembled a large gathering, making much noise: Venerable Angulimala would come to the Blessed One with a split head and blood dripping, with the bowl broken and with robes torn.
Then king Pasenadi of Kosala approached the Blessed One worshipped, sat on a side and said. He used skillful means to get King Pasenadi to publicly state his intention to do no harm to a disciple of the Buddha.
There is nothing more to wish. This choice protected Angulimala from the system of social justice of that time and culture. The Buddha made the choice, interdependent on his own dispositions, needs and culture to ordain Angulimala.
The Angulimala Sutta
At the time he leaves for the university at Taxila he is that laudable person. If a stick was thrown at anybody else, it hit venerable Angulimala. At that time he destroyed complete villages, complete hamlets and even the state. The Angulimala Sutta Angulimala: Some will be easy to make, others will be complicated taking much thought and angulmiala.
Ahimsaka kumara was born in the family of Brahmin,—the chaplain of King Kosala and was known in his young age as the Son of Mantani.
My enemies, listen to the Teaching, be yoked to the Dispensation of the Blessed One. Up to this point in the parable choices were made by the father and mother giving him a harmless name and opportunities to succeedthe king when the father offers to have his son killed the king declinesAhimsaka first choosing to be good, later choosing to do badhis fellow students agnulimala actionsand the teacher first being supportive, later believing lies and manipulating Ahimsaka.
Realizing angulimaala impossibility of the glory of the Buddha, Angulimala robber became a convert and was ordained as a monk. He was educated at the Taxila university and the Rector asked him to collect one thousand fingers as a gratifying test.
When going the alms round in Savatthi in due order, saw a certain woman with the pains of childbirth, then it occurred to him, indeed beings are defiled. Let us recite this discourse of protection.
MN 86 – Angulimala Sutta
The robber Angulimala saw the Blessed One coming in the distance and it occurred to him: Having done many actions leading to birth in hell, touched by the results of actions I stuta food without a debt. Hence he became notorious as the Robber with a garland of fingers— Angulimala Cora. When this was said the Blessed One went on, silently. Ethically, as Sutya, we must strive for an Appropriate View of each situation, while holding to our Appropriate Intent.
Then venerable Angulimala putting on robes in the morning and taking bowl and robes went the alms round in Savatthi.
Morally, as Buddhists, we realize that compassion is sutga, that everyone deserves compassion. Great king that is Angulimala. Brahmin, endure that, on account of the results of your actions you would have been reaping results for many years, for many hundreds of years, for many thousands of years in hell.
