xhike I’m not sure if it would thr appeal to kids I know, even if I read it aloud; the English is so simple, I would have to inflect quite a bit. In the end, I expected there to be a very obvious lesson, sort of like Aesop’s Fables, but it wasn’t blatantly stated, which I liked a lot! Basically a long-ish children’s book, ‘Chike and the River’ unfolds with all the simplicity and wide-eyed wonder of a parable or a fable, gently moralizing along the way.
