The pacing is really awkward – stuff that should take a chapter takes a paragraph, meanwhile historical mythology is spewed out by a character in dialogue over several pages. Then again, I am very sure that most people that read this are neither as old and cynical as I am, and that they read this a lot faster with less attention to details than I did.
I’m sure there’ll be a sequel but I wanted a little more. I found it interesting enough then, but it was stretched beyond reasonable limits in this one, with half-baked Biblical nonsense and a few Russian history facts thrown in to try and make it much more than it should be.
Even the fights felt rushed and unexciting. Ten years after the events told in Angelology, Verlaine is now an accomplished angelologist, and Evangeline hasn’t been heard of. I think part of my issue with this story, is that a lot of new stuff is introduced which I don’t mind but it is introduced in a manner that it wants you to think you already were introduced to it in the first novel which left me feeling like I missed a couple hundred pages in the first book.
Archeology, Faberge eggs and a real life Panopticon are involved. Since I read this due to angelopoliz proj I think this was okay, but only if you don’t really pay too much attention to detail.

If there’s another book, I’ll probably read it just to see what happens. Not exactly the direction that will keep me reading. I found the Lucien line fascinating. It’s bland, poorly edited lots of continuity errors peppered throughout and though the world Trussoni created is still a fascinating, rich and memorable place, Angelopolis really doesn’t do it justice in any way.
Once again, there is a life-and-death race to recover artistic artifacts that have a bearing on the survival of the Nephilim versus human beings. The ending leaves us breathless and feeling the not just the loss of a story finished, but the anticipation of what is to come. Inconsistent, uninteresting, badly developed and two-dimensional. Moreover, Evangeline has been taken. We last saw her spreading her wings and leaping Thanks for sharing with us Jill. So many, and all standing in the open.

At least the parts which I just read through fast weren’t too shabby, although I didn’t really care for the characters, but all the fast-pacedness pays off in a novel like this.
