I immediately went out and bought the companion book to the series and read it straight through. But the the last 4 or 5 episodes are incredibly clear j.brojowski of the often complex and confusing world of 19th and 20th century science, mixed with quite touching observations about the role of science in a bigger society, its poetry, and the way it feeds humanity’ soul. The ensuing chapters spend time on particular human achievements, such as mathematics, architecture, music, astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, and so on.
Into this pond were flushed the ashes of some four million people. This is unavoidable, and is in fact a tribute to the ideals Bronowski championed.
Once you get used to it, the book is pretty good.
