The first four sections of the book are Fuerle trying to explain his theory, the text slowly but surely getting nuttier as the chapters go by. Vsevolod Amlngst is currently reading it Dec 10, There are no discussion topics on this book yet.
Jason marked it as to-read Dec 19, The problem is that he cherry-picks or misconstrues those facts in order to support his thesis that Africans, and their relatives qmongst the globe, are “less-evolved” I’m loathe to stick the “racist” label onto anyone, since it is used so cheaply these days, especially in describing those who don’t follow a specific ideological benefit. The last section is Fuerle explaining why some people mainly white men are more equal than others. Only a few hundred years ago our ancestors found nothing objectionable about owning and selling other people, and some millenniums prior to that the main course at dinner might be a member of a neighboring tribe. Rachel rated it did not like it Mar 08, I was surprised he quite shamelessly stated in the footnotes that Jews and Gypsies are parasitical populations that should be expelled. All in all a depressingly poorly thought out piece of text, especially when genuine evolutionary biology and neuropsychology are such interesting subjects. Is it even up to us or should we let the nature work its course?
I was going to start this simply by stating that the book is a massive truckload of bullshit.
Erectus Walks Amongst Us by Richard D. Fuerle
Needless to say, this book needs to be taken with a bucket of erecrus but I did learn that there are racial differences in earwax! There are also problems with procreation and immune system, hugely important when you’re talking about the vitality of the population. And, I tried to walsk Richard Fuerle the benefit of the doubt, since he does lay out a number of biological and evolutionary facts in constructing his arguments.
In the footnotes he clarifies that this is something that happened approximately four million years ago. Drectus Blackmoore rated it it was amazing Oct 26, It is nearly impossible to arrive at the truth by listening to only one side of the story, and you are about to hear another side. Only a few hundred years ago our ancestors found nothing objectionable about owning and selling other people, and some millenniums prior to that the main course at very person is a product of the times he lives in.
Randy rated it it was amazing May 05, We all believe that our values are objective and moral, but that cannot be true because every generation believes that, yet they have vastly conflicting values. To put it into context, that was two million years before Homo erectus lived and even before the Australopithecus.
Dec 06, Eric rated it did not like it. The rest of us live in this sea of misinformation. Now, in my aomngst years, I can see no contribution I could make to the amonget generation more important than to challenge what I believe to be at least some of these erroneous beliefs. Unfortunately it’s more in the vein of apologetics than science, with cherry-picking galore and straw man attacks against anyone who might disagree with the central, and boringly bigoted, hypothesis.
Refresh and try again. I have tried to be as accurate as possible, though I would be amazed if there were no mistakes, as so much ground is covered and speculation was required to fill in gaps in the evidence. Wslks makes claims that will support his theory but have no basis in reality, they’re there to support his own opinions.
Which is not very old, mind you.
