I’d like to complete the anthology, but I’m wondering if it has anything that I can’t just find for free on the interweb. In the song list I see that it’s got Albeniz’ “Sevilla”, which could make it worth it all by itself.

I was cleaning up and bumped into my Romantic Guitar Anthology. I’m not at home at the moment so Romanric haven’t got my or rather my employer’s copy of the book available but I don’t think there are much music in the book you can’t find cheaper somewhere else.
Like the other books in the series, the romantic guitar anthology is an almost perfect example how an educational edition should be. Thanks for telling us about the problem.

What I remember, before looking at it, was all the same ol’ Tarrega, Coste, Mertz, and Arcas pieces I have seen a million times on every guitar website out there. I regularly sight read pieces in the first three but really haven’t found this one to be as interesting or enjoyable. No trivia or quizzes yet. If one has money and is planning to become more educated, I know I would and eventually will purchase the book for myself, because you never know what you may or may not learn from one that spent years studying the classical guitar and repertoire, as well as some of the standards that are out there after all, they are probably standards for a reason.

But if you like those little comments, fingering hints, and performance tips and if you can afford it go with Noad’s compilations.

Coffeemachtspass added it Dec 30, Overall I would say that he didn’t really have a great taste in picking out a musically ‘variety’ with the exception of the ‘gems’ and rarely known piecesbut from the educational standpoint he did a great job in creating a good starting point for repertoire, history, as well as techniques for the classical guitar and the respective eras.
The guirar text and study notes guitat each piece give a wealth of biographical, technical, and stylistic information. When I got mine the internet did not exist so it was worth it.
I’m mostly insterested in the Tarrega stuff in it, although there are always other “hard to find” gems that appear in Noad’s books. This book is not yet featured on Listopia.
